The opening of The Same Refrain, brings up visions of Gram Parson & the Flying Burrito Bros. stranded in Albuquerque, forced to spend the night at some trashy Route 66 motel, stoned, drunk and just a little pissed off, it works for them, who does Double Plow sound like? well, the Let it Bleed era Stones,Flying Burrito Bros,Black Crowes, etc. but mostly they sound like Double Plow, an american band,-- Ernest Aguirre |
I love this album. It is an awesome mix between high energy rocking tunes and beautiful melodies. Great, politically charged lyrics...the "Buzzard's" got a great voice...love the harmonica...this album is all good. -- Kelly in the BurQue |
Double Plow throws down a unique rock sound. Their music is fired up and full throttle -- Socorro El Defensor Chieftain News |
The more I listen the more I like it!!!!! -- Soulbelly |
I have listened to this album over and over again. The truth and feeling in the songs is captivating and the music completely rocks! The powerful vocals put the proper emotion into the lyrics. It is so nice to hear music that combines storytelling with real musical talent. I HOPE DOUBLE PLOW GOES ALL THE WAY CUZ THEY DESERVE IT!!! -- Angela |
Ferbruary 2, 2009 Albuquerque Examiner's Band of the Week is Double Plow. Their music is easy to get into and is great to listen to no matter what you are doing. You will love their CD and must have it! -- ABQ Music Examiner |
I've listened to this cd over & over again. I'm a lyrics junkie and these songs are full of poignant & humorous stories. The groove is total southern rock which turns my crank being a southern girl myself. The singer, "Buzzard", has a soulful voice that when you listen you can feel the emotion & passion behind the music. The song Honeyrose is my favorite, great choice for the last tasty tune on the cd. All the songs are great and I strongly suggest everyone to give it a try. If you like rock -n- roll and meaningful lyrics along with killer rhythm -n- blues you can't go wrong with this band. Kudos to Double Plow you all rock!!!! -- Debbie |
Driving through the Ozark's on a sunny, warm, winter afternoon, Double Plow served as a perfect soundtrack for my travels. With a lyrical wit and straight up rock and roll, this album was echoing through the hills - I couldn't get it loud enough. Pay attention to the lyrics, they'll make you want to listen, and the blues harp and rockin guitar bring it all together along with the ever present bass and tight trap set. Appalachian story telling backed up to quality jams leaves you wanting more after the last song has been sung. If you're a fan of The Black Crowes or Blind Melon, here's another solid set of original sounding tracks to add to your collection. These guys are for real. -- Ryan Carlson |
I was about to give up on music. All I want is to hear guys just jam. These guys, TEAR IT UP! I cant stop listening to it. The record takes you on a journey. Amazing lyrics and singing. Super hot guitar riff's. This band has it all. I cant wait for more! Please make more records! Oh by the way, I have NEVER heard any band sound like this band. I'm plowed! -- James Wallace |
